Funeral services for Retired Master Sergeant James Ralph McCready, age 91, are scheduled for 10 AM Friday, October 20, 2017 at Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Myrick officiating. Interment will follow in Bartholomew Methodist Church Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5 PM until 7 PM Thursday at Goldens.

Retired Master Sergeant McCready was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. He loved his children and especially his grandchildren; he loved fishing and his New Orleans Saints as well. Retired Master Sergeant McCready served in the United Stated Army from 1945 through 1968 in five different states and five different countries. The Bronze Star was one of the many decorations awarded to him while serving in World War II, Korean War and Vietnam.

He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Hurst and husband David of Bastrop; sons, Darin McCready of Grand Prairie, TX, Chris McCready of West Monroe, LA; sisters, Arnell Knightingale of Las Vegas, NV, Virginia Strickland of Hector, AR, Jolene Roper of Hector, AR; five grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Retired Master Sergeant McCready is preceded in death by his wife, Willie Jo Franklin McCready; his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Carter Cox, Jr., Lagniappe Nursing Home and staff, and a special thank you to caregivers,Margie Pettis Ray and Barbara Johnston.
