Obituary of Evelyn Ivey Albright Holloway

Evelyn Ivey Albright Holloway, 97, died May 29. She was born to the late Jacob and Cecil Albright Oct 1, 1913 in Beekman, LA. She graduated from Northeast LA State College with a degree in Elementary Education. She was married to the late Frank Holloway on Sept. 10, 1938. Dedication to her family and love for her children made Evelyn a natural at teaching as a second grade teacher at East Side Elementary in Bastrop, LA for a number of years. She also taught second grade Sunday School at the First Methodist Church in Bastrop for over forty years. She touched many lives and hearts with her compassion. She is often remembered for her sweet smile and gentle nature. She loved to bake, sew, and garden. Many Cub Scouts fondly remember her peanut butter cookies and red kool-aid. Evelyn enjoyed volunteering at the hospital and was a dedicated, devout life-long member of the First Methodist Church. She is survived by two children: Jerry Holloway of Walburg, TX and Annette Weber of Arlington, TX. She is also survived by five grandchildren: David Holloway of Honolulu, HI, Kimberly Holloway of Austin, TX; Matthew Holloway of Fort Wayne, IN; Chris Weber of Austin, TX; and Amy Waugh of Kyle, TX.and step-grandchildren: Dustin Bunness of Cedar Park, TX and his two sons Tanner and Jackson Bunness; Darren Bunness and his daughter Lilly Bunness of Walburg, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the First Methodist Church for Sunday School supplies, or to the Morehouse Parish Public Library. A memorial service will be held at the First Methodist Church of Bastrop, LA on July 9 at 2:00.
