Obituary of Esther Lee Hughes

Funeral services for Mrs. Esther Lee Hughes, age 79, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Mr. Waymon Swain officiating. Interment will follow in Carter Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5-9 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. Hughes, a resident of Bastrop, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Morehouse General Hospital. She was a United States Postal Service employee, a member of Central Church of Christ, and a member of the Eastern Star. She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Oliver Hughes; parents, Allie and Lillian Armstrong; and a brother, Johnny Armstrong. Mrs. Hughes is survived by three children, Olly Hughes and wife Emily of Bastrop, LA, Brenna Purdy and husband Travis of Monroe, LA, Roy Dale Hughes of Bastrop, LA; two sisters, Littie Pennington of Bastrop, LA, Dovie Faulkenberry of Mer Rouge, LA; two grandchildren, April Purdy of Dallas, TX, Ryan Hughes of Bastrop, LA; four step-grandchildren, Trey Smith, John Smith, Jamie Smith, Hannah Brown; four great grandchildren, McKenzie Smith, Logan Travis, Layton Wheeler, Jayden Smith; and faithful friend, Coleman Spann. Serving as pallbearers will be nephews, Allie Pennington, Allen Pennington, John Sebren, Ronald Wyatt, Charles Milton, and Doug Armstrong.
