Obituary of Donald Ray Morris

Donald Ray Morris, 95, of Bastrop, Louisiana, passed away on July 18, 2023, in Vicksburg, MS. He was born to Mae Bell and Avery Lee Morris June 2, 1928, in Jonesboro, LA. Donald Ray is survived by his wife, Connie Sue; children, Baxter (Marlene), Donna (Eddie Eargle), Jon (Glenda), and Cindy (Lynn Youngblood); five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Donald Ray graduated from Bastrop High School in 1945, entered LA Tech for two trimesters, then joined the Navy in March of 1946, at the age of seventeen. After his service, he returned home and married Connie Sue on August 20, 1948. He finished his Finance degree at LA Tech in January of 1951. He worked for International Paper Company in Bastrop, LA; Mobile, AL; Vicksburg, MS, and Mansfield, LA, where he retired as Controller after thirty-four years of employment, on September 1, 1985. Donald Ray and Connie Sue returned to Bastrop where they enjoyed gardening. They traveled the world, meeting new friends whom they kept in touch with; actually visiting some in their country. Donald Ray also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing with friends and family. Mr. Morris’ parents and brothers, Elbert and Lee, preceded him in death.
