Obituary of Jerry G. Wilson

Funeral services for Mr. Jerry G. Wilson, 71, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Royce Christmas and Rev. Chad Ballard officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Wilson, a retired farmer and agricultural consultant, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Morehouse General Hospital. He was a member of Greenacres Baptist Church and an avid hunter, fisherman and woodworker. He got great pleasure from sharing the things that he made with others. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jeanette Wilson; two sons, Terry Wilson and wife Patricia of Maysville, KY, Todd Wilson and wife Debbie of Bastrop, LA; two sisters, Melba Dixon and husband Mike of Homer, LA, Lorene Swendson and husband Joe of Lindale, TX; brother, Roger Wilson and wife Diane of Roxie, MS and four granddaughters, Jessica Wilson, Ashley Wilson, Brittany Wilson and Katelyn Wilson. Mr. Wilson is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Lessie Wilson. Serving as pallbearers are: Jinks Pruitt, David McCarty, Harry Mayo, Laverne Johnson, Charlie Peterson, Bobby Wooden, Mike Wooden and Greg Sadler. Honorary pallbearers are: Dr. Carter Cox, Fraulene McKnight, Charles Burns, Jerry Spikes, Steve Whorton and Sonny Nason. The family would like to thank Dr. Carter Cox and the staff and employees of Cherry Ridge Guest care for their help during Mr. Wilson's illness. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
