Obituary of Arnold "Duane" Ray

Funeral services for Mr. Arnold "Duane" Ray, age 58, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2011 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Ray officiating. Interment will follow in Mer Rouge Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday from 5-8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Ray, a firefighter and resident of Mer Rouge, LA, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2011. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved riding motorcycles. He is preceded in death by his father, Arnold N. Ray; paternal grandfather, Guy Newton Ray; paternal grandmother, Verma Ray; maternal grandfather, J.L. McIntyre; and maternal grandmother, Irene Ashton McIntyre. Mr. Ray is survived by his wife, Nora Lusby Ray of Mer Rouge, LA; mother, Dorothy McWilliams of Bastrop, LA; two daughters, Brandy Ray Hickman of Bastrop, LA, Hillery Ray Porter and husband David of Bastrop, LA; one son, Patrick Meizere and wife Diana of Ft. Bliss, TX, two step-sons, Quinton Jackson and wife April of Bastrop, LA, Paul Jackson and wife Vickie of Tuscaloosa, AL; sister, Jean Dare Ray Gautreau and husband Brian of Lafayette, LA; brother, Bobby Guy Ray and wife Tracy of Bastrop, LA; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; one step-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers are Shelby Silk, Donald Hendricks, Randy McIntyre, Rodney Posey, David Carroll, and Barry Thibodeaux. Honorary pallbearers are employees of the Bastrop Fire Department.
