Obituary of Irene Chapin Wooden

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Irene Chapin Wooden, age 89, are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Bastrop, with Rev. Lindle Stewart officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday morning from 10-11 a.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. Wooden, a homemaker, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2008, at St. Francis North Hospital. She was a life-long resident of Morehouse Parish until 2001 when she moved to Monroe to live with her son. She was a member of the Eastern Star and of the Baptist faith. She is preceded in death by a son, Lester Harold Wooden; sisters, Lottie Morgan, Johnnie Bray, Katie Hughes, Margie Wooden; and brothers, Marshall Chapin, and Douglas Chapin. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Ward Wooden of Monroe; son, Don Wooden & wife Martha of Monroe; daughter-in-law, Reatagae Wooden of Rayville; two grandchildren, Harold "Hal" Wooden & wife Sherry of Los Angeles, CA, Jeffrey Wooden & wife Niki of Delhi; and four great grandchildren.
