Obituary of Calvin Emory Pamplin

Born March 4, 1928 in Hamburg, Arkansas, Calvin Emory Pamplin lived his life, almost, entirely in Bastrop, Louisiana. On July 20, 2013, Emory left this world for a better one. As a member of the Greatest Generation, Emory's life spanned from the Great Depression to the turn of the 21st century. Along the way Emory met the love of his life: Opal Virginia Boyd. Married in 1947, Emory and Opal raised two children, Toni Jeannette (1948), and Edward Emory Pamplin (1954). Opal and Emory were married 66 years. Emory is survived by his loving wife Opal, daughter Toni Moore and husband Leslie, Edward Pamplin, and his wife Adrianne of Longview, Texas. Emory's grandchildren: Tammy Huoni, Stacey Corcoran, Carson Gallagher, Tony Gallagher, Benjamin Pamplin, and Haley Wren Pamplin. Emory's great grandchildren: Justin Vincent, Jake Gallagher, and Brittany Corcoran. Also survived Emory's brother, Willie Earl (Sonny) Pamplin, and sister Carrie Dodd, and Sister-in-law Faye McCready. Preceding Emory's passing were his parents, Herman and Pearl Pamplin, and brothers, Claudell and Johnny Pamplin. Serving as pallbearers are: Justin Vincent, Ben Pamplin, Doyle Murphy, Jerry Freeland, Boyce Copeland, Charles Burns, and Tony Gallagher. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Jimbo Herring and Rev. Phillip McCready officiating. Interment will follow in Bartholomew Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Golden Funeral Home.
