Obituary of Stanford "Red" Massey

Funeral services for Stanford "Red" Massey, age 78, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday November 5, 2005, at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Louis Couch officiating. Burial will follow in Mer Rouge Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Golden's. Mr. Massey passed away November 2, 2005, at Morehouse General Hospital. He was a member of Maplewood Baptist Church. Since 1997 he had been a resident of Hickory Manor Nursing Home. He was employed by International Paper Company for 38 years. He always enjoyed raising large produce gardens and giving the produce to his family and friends. He loved to fish, and was considered a good cook. He is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Opal Massey; parents, William & Dollie Massey; brother, R.T. Massey; sister, Cristall Massey; step-children, Roy Nations & Judy Barnett. He is survived by two brothers, F.D. Massey & wife Zelma of Bastrop and Herman Massey of Florida.
