Obituary of Mark Edward Grimes

Funeral services for Mr. Mark Edward Grimes, age 60, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2013 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Rayburn McLarrin officiating. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Grimes, a retired electrician and resident of Bastrop, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2013. He is preceded in death by his father, Maurice Houston Grimes. Mr. Grimes was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served as an aircraft mechanic and spent most of his service in the Philippines. He was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Grimes was an avid deer hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed listening to music. He is survived by his mother, Margie Lane Grimes of Bastrop, LA; daughter, Courtney Grimes Lancaster and husband John of Baltimore, MD; son, Luke Edward Grimes of Chaing Mai, Thailand; two sisters, Susan Grimes Grand of Alexandria, LA, Christi Grimes Hales and husband Robert "Hoss" of Bastrop, LA; grandson, Jackson Henry Lancaster of Baltimore, MD; and four nieces and nephews, Brandon Breland of San Antonio, TX, Mauri Hales of Bastrop, LA, Amelia Hales of Bastrop, LA, Tyler Hales of St. Francisville, LA. Serving as pallbearers will be Tyler Hales, Thomas Adams, Ted Grimes, Jerry Blackmon, Steve Walker, and John Lancaster. Honorary pallbearers are Mitch Grimes and Robert "Hoss" Hales.
