Obituary of James "Alan" Burgess

Funeral services for James "Alan" Burgess, age 57, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2013 at Cherry Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Kyle Peters officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Monday at Cherry Ridge Baptist Church. Alan, a resident of Bastrop, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013. He was a member of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his father, James Edward "Eddie" Burgess, and sister, Nina Joy Burgess. Alan is survived by his mother, Freeda Burgess of Bastrop, LA; sister, Julia Lindsay and husband Clarence of Collinston, LA; nieces, Christine Ferguson and husband Jerry of Vicksburg, MS, Melanie Brown and husband Wes of Benton, LA; and nephews, Andrew Shelton, Aden Gilcrease, Little Wes Brown, and Devin Ferguson. Serving as pallbearers will be Eugene Copeland, Wes Brown, Frank Mushinski, Earl Tackett, Bobby Nugent, Jack McCormick, Truman Hough, and Sherman Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are Lynn Eppinette and Doug Philley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cherry Ridge Baptist Church Mission / Building Fund, 1005 Cherry Ridge Road, Bastrop, LA 71220.
