Obituary of Derrick Scott Harper

Funeral services for Derrick Scott Harper, age 28, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2013 in the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Post and Rev. Kyle Peters officiating. Interment will follow in Red Wing Cemetery. Derrick, an electrician and member of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Samantha Harper; parents, Cassundra Tubbs and husband Mike, Tommy Sowyers and wife Tammy; grandparents, Katherine Tubbs, Zane Tubbs and wife Darlene, all of Bastrop, LA; children, McKenna Harper, Tanner Scott Harper, Kaydence Standifird; sisters, Courtney Harris and husband T.J. of Bastrop, LA, Jessica Foster and husband Chris of Monroe, LA, Sarah Tubbs of Bastrop, LA, Lindsay Pollard of Bastrop, LA, Kailee Jo Sowyers of Bastrop, LA; nephew, Cameron Hales; niece, Miley Kate Tubbs. Derrick is preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Mary Harper and Authur and Michelle Sowyers. Pallbearers will be; Brad West, Zac Bradford, Grayson Powell, Johnny Cherry, Samuel Turner, John Hattaway, Ted Grimes, and Jarrod Jacob. Visitation will be held Monday, December 30, 2013 from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
