Funeral services for Mr. Charles William Brown (Bill), age 84 of Bastrop, LA, are scheduled for 2 PM Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 21 from 5 PM until 8 PM at Golden Funeral Home. Interment will be in Hamburg Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Brown, a retired employee of International Paper with 40 years of service, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2014 in Monroe, LA. He was in the Army during the Korean Conflict and stationed in Alaska. He was the president and vice-president of Pulp and Paper Makers Local 360, the board of directors of Morehouse General Hospital in the 1980's. He was a founding member and deacon of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church and was also a charter member of Prairie View Academy. He is survived by his children, William Michael Brown of Bastrop, LA, Rebecca Brown Spencer and husband Michael of Bastrop, LA; siblings, Cecil Brown of Farmerville, LA, Bob Brown of Little Rock, AR, Jim Brown of Clarksville, TX, John Brown of WA; grandchildren, Shelley Fisher and husband Chad of Bastrop, LA, Charles Spencer and wife Katrina of Bastrop, LA, John Spencer and wife Amanda of Bastrop, LA, Kelsey Spencer of Bastrop, LA; great grandchildren, Madison Fisher, Zoey Fisher, Charlie Spencer, Jr., Katelyn Spencer, Callie Spencer, Seth Roye Michael Spencer, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Brown is preceded in death by his wife, Lois Shelton Brown; parents, John Ray Brown and wife Edith Dell; sister, Betty Hobbs.
