Obituary of James P. Derrick

Funeral services for Mr. James P. Derrick, 93, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 11 AM Thursday, June 26, 2008 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Myrick and Rev. Danny Chance officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Derrick was born January 27, 1915 in Lemon, MS to William Franklin Derrick and Dosky Daniels Derrick. He lived most of his adult life in Bastrop where he worked for International Paper Company until his retirement in 1980 after 37 years. Mr. Derrick was a member of the Quarter Century Club and a member of White Avenue Baptist Church. He is survived by a daughter, Jimmie Nell Williamson and her husband Virgil of Delhi, LA; a granddaughter, Vikki S. Mixon and her husband Donnie, two grandsons, David Williamson and his wife Barbara, Dan Williamson all of West Monroe, LA; seven great grandchildren, Amanda W. Ables and her husband Jason, Amelia Mixon, Dustin Williamson, Rachel Lynn and her husband Robert, Michelle Drake and her husband Marvin, Tim Mixon and his wife Brooke, Donnie Mixon, Jr. and his wife Shanda; eight great great grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Faye McNair of Calhoun, LA; two special nephews, Dickie McNair and his wife Wilma, James H. Williamson and his wife Reba; special nieces, Audrey Robinson and Peggy Hutcheson and her husband Rich. Mr. Derrick is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Gordie B. Derrick and his parents, and a brother, Frank Derrick. Mr. Derrick's grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2008 from 5 PM until 8 PM at Golden Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Dr. James Eppinette, the Premier Hospice staff, and the Arbor Terrace staff for their excellent care of Mr. Derrick
