Obituary of Ruth Adams Freeland

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Adams Freeland, age 77 of Bastrop, LA, are scheduled for 10 AM Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Ezra Cook officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5 PM until 8 PM Wednesday at Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. Freeland, longtime member of First Assembly of God in Bastrop and co-owner of numerous local businesses with her husband, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014. She was born to the union of Hattie Wilson and Herman Adams on July 23, 1937 in Bossier, LA. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, and a doting grandmother. She loved traveling and looked forward to her yearly "sister's trip." She is survived by her husband, James Earl Freeland, Sr.; daughters, Debra Freeland Thomas and husband Bob of Bastrop, LA, Karol Freeland Handy of W. Monroe, LA; son, James Earl Freeland, Jr. of Hot Springs, AR; son-in-law, Jimmy "Coach" Haynes of Sherman, TX; sister, Ann Adams of Winterpark, FL; brothers, Jerry Adams of Branson, MO, Raymond Adams of CA; grandchildren, Daniel Thomas and wife Phoebe, Brian Thomas, Tyler Thomas, Ruth Ann Handy Moore and husband Brian, Adam Handy, Joseph Handy and wife Jessica, Melody McIntyre Webb, Christopher Haynes, Nicholas Freeland and wife Jenna,Caden Freeland, Kensi Freeland; great grandchildren, Olivia Moore, Owen Moore, Constance Thomas, Allie Grace Freeland, Baleigh Freeland, Tyson Webb, and Evangeline Handy. Mrs. Freeland is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Aileen, Elaine, Thelma; daughter, Laurie Freeland McIntyre Haynes; grandson, Landon Basil McIntyre. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Louisiana Hospice Care of Monroe nurses and staff and Bro. Ezra Cook for his faithful visits to Mr. and Mrs. Freeland. Serving as pallbearers will be Nicholas Freeland, Daniel Thomas, Brian Thomas, Tyler Thomas, Joseph Handy, and Brian Moore.
