Obituary of Melvin G. "Bill" Russell

Funeral services for Melvin G. "Bill" Russell, age 96, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2014 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Kyle Peters officiating. Interment will be in Christ Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 12 - 2 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Russell, a retired International Paper Company employee and resident of Bastrop, LA, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014. He was a Master Mason of Mt. Gerezim Lodge in Bastrop, a 33rd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite in Monroe, and a Shriner. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Wilda Russell, and granddaughter, Amanda Shinn. Mr. Russell is survived by his wife Charlene Russell; step-son, Artie Shinn and wife Donna of Little Rock, AR; and six grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Tony Tullos, Jim Wilson, Earl Tackett, Eugene Copeland, Sherman Thompson, Frank Mushinski, Jerry Deville, and Floyd Tubbs. Honorary pallbearers are J.H. Lockwood and Jack Spigner.
