Obituary of Clayton Pruitt DeFreese

Funeral services for Mr. Clayton Pruitt DeFreese, age 88, of Mer Rouge, LA, are scheduled for Monday, February 17, 2014 at 2 PM at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Revs. Francis Smith and Bob Lonadier officiating. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12 noon until the service time Monday at Golden Funeral Home.
Mr. DeFreese, a retired employee of International Paper Company and former manager of East Fork Ranch, passed away Friday, February 14, 2014 at his residence. He also worked numerous years in the oilfields. Mr. DeFreese was a Senior Deacon of Horseshoe Baptist Church, ordained March 16, 1986. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran having served in WW II.
Mr. DeFreese is survived by his son, Thomas L. DeFreese of Mer Rouge, LA; sister, Sammie Louise Haney of Ruston, LA; two brothers, B.J. DeFreese of Girad, LA, Bill DeFreese of Start, LA; six grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Clayton DeFreese and Mary Hulett Pruitt DeFreese; wife, Aline Ann Tatum DeFreese; daughter, Mary Golden DeFreese and a son, Clayton DeFreese, Jr.
Serving as pallbearers are: Sam Stage, Mike Silk, Thomas Anthony DeFreese, Marshall Stevens, Tommy Barham and Francis Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Dr. Dino Spires and Dr. Benjamin Stage.
