Robert Louis Dade, 74, of Mer Rouge, La. passed away on February 17, 2014. A visitation will be held at 4:00 at Golden Funeral Home in Bastrop, LA on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 with a memorial service to follow at 5:30 with Rev. Phillip McCready officiating. Mr. Dade was born in Mer Rouge, LA on March 17, 1939 to Louis Gerald and Sadilee Moss Dade. He attended Mer Rouge Elementary and High School in Morehouse Parish and Northeast Louisiana State College in Monroe, LA. He was retired from the banking and financial services industry, and recently had worked part time for University of Louisiana at Monroe. Mr. Dade was also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, but he will probably be best remembered for his love of baseball and fishing. He was a volunteer coach for Youth and Dixie League baseball teams in Bastrop for almost 50 years. Robert is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother Steven A. Dade and sister-in-law , Mary Ann Dade of Bastrop, LA.; niece, Challie M. Dade of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and several aunts, an uncle and numerous cousins. The family wishes to offer, with deepest gratitude, our appreciation to those who invested so much time into Robert's life. We also extend thanks to the hundreds of young men who played baseball for him and the men who coached along side him in the game he loved so dearly. Special thanks also goes to his friends who fished with him which gave him countless hours of pleasure on the water. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the charity of your choice.
