James Lee King, 84, of Bastrop, LA, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2014. He was born December 12, 1929 to Purvis King and Lela Greer Sproles in Lincoln County, MS. He was a member of Greenacres Baptist Church since 1952, and ordained as a deacon in 2005. Mr. King was a self-employed business owner. He is survived by his children, Curtis Wayne King of Longview, TX, Patricia Marlene King of West Monroe, LA, H. Michael King and Sheila Beauvais of Sterlington, LA; granddaughters, Chelsea King of Calhoun, LA, Whitney King and husband Chris of West Monroe, LA, Ariel King of Starkville, MS, Patricia A. King of Honolulu, HI; grandson, Michael Wayne Norris of West Monroe, LA; brothers, William Curtis King and wife Valoree of Natchez, MS, Leslie Sproles, Jr. and wife Bobbie of Wisner, LA; sisters, Dorothy Jones and husband Leon of Bastrop, LA, Shirley King and husband Tommy of Wisner, LA; and beloved nieces and nephews. Mr. King is preceded in death by his father, Purvis King; mother, Lela Greer Sproles; and step-father, Leslie Sproles, Sr. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Greenacres Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Campanale, Rev. Todd Wooden, and Mike Wooden officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Golden Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Dennis Gregory, Michael Norris, Chris King, Greg Sadler, Laverne Johnson, and Bobby Wooden. Honorary pallbearers are Clarence Lindsay, Monty Hudson, and the Deacons of Greenacres Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Greenacres Baptist Church.
