Obituary of Ernest Decker

Funeral arrangements for Ernest Marvin Decker, 71, of Bastrop are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 3,2004 at the Golden Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Ingram and Dr. L.H. McCollough officiating. Interment will be in the Mer Rouge Cemetery. Visitation hours are from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, August 2,2004. Mr. Decker, a retired auditor for the Louisiana Department of Labor was also a graduate of ULM, a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Gifford Decker; daughter, Renee` Decker and son, Richard Decker. Mr. Decker is preceded in death by his parents, Richard Earl Decker and Katie Decker Halterman. Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Coughran, Raymond Westbrook, Charles Arant, Jerry Ball, John Sullivan, Charles Moore, Harold Chappell and Gene Roberts. Honorary pallbearers are: Dr. Carter Cox, Charles Terry, J.D. Priddy and Lynn Eppinette. The family requests that memorials be made to the pipe organ fund at First Baptist Church.
