Services for Louise Gewin Fontenot, of Collinston, LA, will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2014 at Loch Arbor Baptist Church in Swartz, LA. Interment will follow in Loch Arbor Cemetery. Pastor William Sikes will officiate. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Golden Funeral Home in Bastrop.
Louise was born February 20, 1924 and went to be with her Lord on Saturday, March 8, 2014 following a brief illness. She was a Christian lady who loved her Lord, and she will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and a great grandmother. She enjoyed going to church, reading her Bible, cooking, painting, working crossword puzzles, watching WWE, and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jefferson N. Fontenot, Jr.; her parents, Clara Hare Gewin and Kennie Gewin; her brother, Ernest Gewin; her sister-in-law, Orene Gewin; and son-in-law, James Austin Morgan, Jr.
Survivors include her six children, Sandra Morgan of Collinston, Suzanne Fontenot and Gary Robertson of Jacksonville, AR, Jefferson N. Fontenot III of Tampa, FL, James Fontenot of Collinston, John Fontenot and wife Kathy of Elaine, AR, Joseph Fontenot and Sheryl of Ruston; her grandchildren, Mark Morgan and wife Nichol of New Bloomfield, PA, Jill Killen and wife Jenn Steff of Seattle, WA, Jennifer Chunn and husband Ronald of Collinston, Jefferson N. Fontenot IV and wife Stephanie of West Monroe, Erica Nicole Fontenot Gulledge and husband Ben of Denver, CO, Anita Killen and George Obert of North Little Rock, AR, Jason Hatchett of Monroe, Lindsey Murphy and husband Eddie of Colorado Springs, CO, Colette Fontenot of Colorado Springs, CO, James Tyler Fontenot of Collinston; great grandchildren, Kelly Fontenot of West Monroe, Brook Shoop of New Bloomfield, PA, Emily Morgan of New Bloomfield, PA, Kayla Fontenot of West Monroe, Kane Chunn of Collinston, Jefferson N. Fontenot V of West Monroe, Paige Murphy of Colorado Springs, CO, Piper Murphy of Colorado Springs, CO; her cousin, Mae Evans of Swartz; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Loch Arbor Baptist Church or The Louisiana Baptist Children's Home.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Carter Cox and the nursing and hospital staff at Morehouse General Hospital.
