Obituary of John David Slack

Funeral services for Mr. John David Slack, age 59, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Donald "Duck" Slack officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Monday at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Slack, an employee of International Paper Company, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014. He is preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Maggie Slack; son, Thomas Matthew Slack; sister Edna Ruth Cantrell; and brother, Eugene Slack. Mr. Slack enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching his grandchildren play ball. He is survived by his two daughters, Jennifer Slack Hogan and husband Shane of Sterlington, LA, Tara Slack Orrels and husband Justin of Monroe, LA; sister, Diane Slack Walker and husband Warren of Bastrop, LA; two brothers, Roy Slack and wife Ann of Camden, AR, Rev. Donald "Duck" Slack of Mer Rouge, LA; and five grandchildren, Ethan Hogan, Broc Hogan, Emarie Hogan, Amelia Kate Orrels, Ryker Orrels; mother of his children, Carla Auttonberry Larche; and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Troy Cantrell, Mike Cantrell, Carl Dement, Johnny Ray Smith, Ethan Hogan, Theron Scott, and Willie Crow. The family would like to extend thanks to Dr. Raj Bhandari and staff, Dr. Michael Smith, Premier Hospice, and a special thank you to Theron Scott for your loyalty during the last few months. Also, many thanks to his other special friends and family members for making these last few months more meaningful.
