Obituary of Vennie Mae Mitchell Hayes

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Vennie Mae Mitchell Hayes, age 94, are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Christ Church Cemetery with Bro. Tim Post officiating. Visitation will be held 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. Hayes, a homemaker and resident of Bastrop, LA, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014. She was a member of First Church of God, where she served as a Sunday School superintendent for many years and was also a member of the Ladies Missionary Organization. She is preceded in death by her husband, Merrell T. Hayes, daughter, Carolyn Joy Robertson; son, Donald Hayes; parents, Walter Jackson and Ethel Mae Cameron Mitchell and four sisters. Mrs. Hayes is survived by granddaughter, Joan McVay and husband Keith of Bastrop, LA,; two grandsons, Keith Robertson and wife Karen of Bastrop, LA, Robert Robertson of Bastrop, LA; sister, Verna Rea Cox of Bastrop, LA; and five great grandchildren, Terry McVay, Donald McVay, Joy McVay, Kevin Robertson, Kirk Robertson, all of Bastrop, LA.
