Obituary of Billie Jerald "Buckshot" Guice

Funeral services for Mr. Billie Jerald Guice, age 75, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, August 25, 2008 at New Hope Baptist Church, Jones, with Rev. Larry Linson and Rev. Gary Traylor officiating. Interment will follow at Bonita Cemetery, Bonita. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home, Bastrop.
Mr. Guice was a farm manager for Mountjoy Farms for 43 years. After retirement he spent his time waiting for deer season to open each fall so he and his buddy, Lamar Frisby, could enjoy the outdoors and hopefully shoot a deer. He also loved to go on the farm and see what the farmers were doing. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Jones.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Delton and Annie Guice; two brothers, Thomas Dean and Donald Guice; wife, Ruth Guice; and son, Gerald Dewayne Guice.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Guice of Jones; three daughters, Opal West and husband Walter of Adona, AR, Debby Stapleton and husband Clyde of Jones, Shelby Hare of Monroe; sisters, Carol Robertson of Monroe, Mary Ann Tumlinson of Ocean Springs, MS, and his baby sister and her husband who have always been there for him, Nancy and Mike Doles of Jones; grandchildren, Shannon Stevens and wife Tammy, Tammy McCoy and husband Donald, Lester Gerald Langley and wife Wendy; step-grandchildren, Michael Hare, Kent Hare, Sonja New; ten great grandchildren; and hunting buddy, Lamar Frisby, who he considered as a son.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Lester G. Langley and Shannon Stevens, as well as John Goodson, Darin Pruitt, Michael Pruitt, and Kermit Kuethe.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Doles, Kim Mountjoy, Leland Pruitt, Lamar Frisby, Dr. Charles Blackmon, Harry Mayo, and members of New Hope Baptist Church.
