Obituary of Helen Jeanne Smith

Helen Jeanne Smith Graveside funeral services are scheduled for Miss Helen Jeanne Smith, age 63, from Bastrop (residing in Baton Rouge) for 2 pm Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Oak Ridge Baptist Cemetery with Dr. Eddie Wren (Pastor at First Baptist Church in Rayville) officiating. Helen Jeanne Smith grew up in Bastrop graduating from Bastrop High School in 1968. She went on to attend Tulane University where she received her paralegal certification along with her Associate Degree in Business. She spent much of her career working for three State of Louisiana's Insurance Commissioners and also managed several political campaigns. She is survived by: her brother, William "Buddy" F. Smith and his wife, Julia M. Campion of Tigard, Oregon; her nephew, Damon Smith and his wife, Katy Smith, who reside in Pensacola, Florida; her niece Shannon Smith Goeuriot and her husband, Sam Goeuriot and their two daughters, Sophie and Eloise who reside in Apex, North Carolina; her niece, Page Smith Pfander and her husband, Jim Pfander along with their two daughters, Olivia and Ella Rose who reside in Fairlawn, Ohio; and her niece, Lauren Smith Cushman and her husband Michael Cushman who reside in Woodstock, Georgia. Her father, John Madison Smith and her mother, Jeanne Page Smith, preceded her in death. Golden Funeral Home in Bastrop is handling the arrangements.
