Obituary of Florence Larue Lockwood

Funeral services for Mrs. Florence Larue Lockwood, age 84, are scheduled for Friday, July 25, 2014 at 2 PM in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Dr. Rex Horne and Rev. Kyle Peters officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 24, 2014, from 6 -8 PM at Golden Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lockwood, a resident of Bastrop, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014. She had been an active member of the Cherry Ridge Baptist church since 1948. She served in many roles in her church having taught Sunday School and sang in the choir for many, many years. She served faithfully in so many ways to others in her church and community as needs arose. She served countless numbers of her pound cakes at church fellowships and to those who had lost loved ones. She will be remembered for her many acts of kindness to those who were in need.
She was preceded in death by her parents Claude and Georgia Upshaw and her sisters, Elva Upshaw, Eolian Williams, Lillian Tucker, and Ruth Helen Everett.
Mrs. Lockwood is survived by her husband, J.H. Lockwood; her daughter, Sherry Cable and husband Leland of Phoenix, AZ; her sons, Mike Lockwood and wife Rosie of Fairhope, AL, and Bill Lockwood and wife Jackie of Dallas, TX; her sisters, Janet Horne of Little Rock, AR and Becky McCullin of West Monroe, LA; and her brother, Coy Upshaw and wife Fern of Spearsville, LA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Amy Glenn of Monroe, LA, Kristy Pulkrabek, of Phoenix, AZ, and Jenny Lockwood of Dallas, TX; and her great-grandchildren, Carson and Ben Pulkrabek.
Serving as pallbearers will be Doug Riels, Jerry Deville, Bobby Nugent, Jack McCormack, Frank Mushinski, and Lynn Sanders.
Mrs. Lockwood's family would like to express their gratitude to special friends Betty Hawkins, Nadine Wilson, and Doug and Brenda Riels, and also to the staff of The Terrace and Premier Hospice.
