Funeral services for Mr. George Lee Laseter, 82 of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, September 1, 2008 at Central Missionary Baptist Church with Revs. Britt Dupree, Jim Crain, Phillip McCready and Doug Hughes II (grandson) officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove South Cemetery on Highway 139. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday, August 31, 2008 at Golden Funeral Home.
Mr. Laseter, a longtime member of Central Missionary Baptist Church, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at his home. He was treasurer of the Senior Men's Sunday School Class, head of the building and grounds committee and a member of the Macedonian Builders. Mr. Laseter was also a retired mechanic with 40 years of service at International Paper Company and a U.S. Marine veteran of WW II.
He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Tammy LeBleu and husband Darin of Sterlington, LA, Tena Hughes of Sterlington, LA; daughter in-law, Cgay Laseter of Bastrop, LA; two sons, Gary Laseter and special friend Mary Hammett of Monroe, LA and Charlie Laseter and special friend, Tish Deere of Bastrop, LA; sisters, Mattie Jenkins of Bogalusa, LA, Melba Story of Franklinton, LA; sisters in-law, Dorothy Williams of Bastrop, LA, Sadie Campbell of Bastrop, LA; brother in-law, Paul Blood of Jonesboro, LA; seven grandchildren, Tara Randall and husband Ches of Bastrop, LA, Charlie Laseter, Jr. of Bastrop, LA, Alana Laseter of Lafayette, LA, Angie Herring and husband Scott of Sterlington, LA, Doug Hughes II and wife Melissa of Leesville, LA, Morgan LeBleu and Macy LeBleu both of Sterlington, LA; four great grandchildren, Conleigh Laseter, Alex Maldonado, Cheyanne Randall, Ashlyn Herring and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Laseter is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Mavis Laseter; parents, George and Ella Laseter; sisters, Georgia Bee, Odie Lee, Annie Lee, Jessie Lee, Clara, Victoria and brothers, Harry, James, G.L., Louis and William.
Serving as pallbearers are: Richard Book, Scott Herring, Charlie Laseter, Jr., Ches Randall, John Book, George Book, Paul Freeland and Richard Jenkins.
Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Social Security Hounds Men's Sunday School class.
The family wishes to express their thanks to Dr. Scott Barron and staff and Dr. Jack Noble and staff for their kind and faithful care.
Memorial donations may be made to the Benevolence Fund at Central Missionary Baptist Church or to the St. Judes Children's Hospital.
