Obituary of John C. Holdman

Funeral services for Mr. John C. Holdman, age 83, are scheduled for Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 1:30 PM at the Pine Grove Baptist Church, Bernice, LA. Revs. Steve Barrett and Connie Smith will be officiating the service. Mr. Holdman, a resident of Bernice, LA was born April 21, 1931 and passed away Sunday, August 3, 2014. Mr. Holdman is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Lissie Holdman and by his three brothers, Monroe Holdman, Lee Holdman, and William Holdman. He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Patsy Grafton Holdman; three daughters, Mary Graham and husband Elvin, Pattie Burns and husband Bobby, and Dena Lee; two sons, Gary Holdman and wife Brenda, and Donald Holdman and wife Gina; one sister, Inez Kelley; nine grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren. Mr. Holdman was a retiree of Hinton Well Service and a former member of the Bernice Fire Department where he was fire chief for many years. He loved his community and willingly served in any way possible for many years, as well. Serving as pallbearers will be, Steven Burns, Jonathan Holdman, Keith Green, Dusty Burroughs, Michael Kelley, Cade Vanderhoeven and Phillip Grafton. Honorary pallbearers are all present and past members of the Bernice Fire Department. Visitation will be at the Pine Grove Baptist Church on Monday, August 4, 2014 from 5 - 8 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Pine Grove Baptist Church Wheelchair Ramp and Awning Fund, Bernice, LA.
