Funeral services for Mr. David Doles, Jr., age 89, will be held Sunday, August 17, 2014, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Traylor officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Doles, a retired farmer, passed away Friday August 15, 2014. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he was saved and baptized in his later years. He was a United States Army Veteran serving as a belly gunner in World War II where he was involved in many successful missions. Mr. Doles was an avid farmer, horseman, cattleman and a hunter who enjoyed hunting trips abroad in his later years. Mr. Doles is preceded in death by his parents, David Doles, Sr. and Bonnie Kinnaird Doles; brothers, Basil Doles, Sr., Robert Fort Doles, and Thomas K. Doles; and a lifelong companion, Gloria Nolan. Mr. Doles is survived by nieces, Bonnie Jean Doles, Beverly Doles Graham and husband Gary, Debbie Doles Boone and husband Ronald; nephews, Basil Doles, Jr. and wife Gail, Mike Doles and wife Nancy, Don Doles and wife Barbara, and Jimmy Doles and wife Denise; a special friend, Sue Nolan Foster; and numerous great nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Garrett Doles, Jason Doles, Nicholas Boone, Frank Boone, Matt Bridges, John Michael Goodson, Harrison Banks, and Hutton Banks. Donations may be made to the Pine Grove Baptist Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 1564, Bastrop, LA 71220, or Alzheimer's Foundation, 322 Eighth Ave., New York, NY 10001. The Family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday at Golden Funeral Home.
