Obituary of Marie Dishongh

Funeral services for Marie Dishongh, age 88,of Bastrop are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday December 31, 2005 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Dr. L.H. McCollough officiating. Burial will follow in Faith Memorial Cemetery in Delhi, LA. Mrs. Dishongh passed away Thursday December 29, 2005. Visitation will be held Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. Dishongh was born May 9, 1917 in Monroe, LA. She graduated from Ouachita High School in 1936, and was married the same year to Roger B. Dishongh. They managed the Alvis Hotel in Monroe, where she was also a bookkeeper. In 1954, they established the Delhi Livestock Auction and for 31 years were owners until 1985 when they retired and moved to Bastrop. Mrs. Dishongh was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Morehouse General Hospital for 15 years and a member of First Baptist Church in Bastrop. She was very active in church and often took flowers and cooked for nursing home and hospital patients. She moved to Monroe and was a member of First Baptist Church of West Monroe. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roger B. Dishongh; son, Roger G. Dishongh; and parents, Jess and Mary Holloway. She is survived by her daughter, Jeanne Acree of Monroe, LA; three grandchildren, Deidre LeGrone of Calhoun, LA, Dena Geilen and husband Chad of Crowley, LA, Curt Adams and wife Amelia of Monroe, LA; five great grandchildren, Chelsey Clarke, Mallory Clarke, Emma Geilen, Daniel Geilen, Emarie Adams; sister, Teen LeBlanc and husband Walter of Odessa, TX; nieces and nephew, Mary Downs of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Tina Weikert of Troy, OH, Amy Cook of Odessa, TX, Joe LeBlanc of Odessa, TX; and double first cousin, Myrtle Townsend of Bastrop. Pallbearers will be Skip Downs, Ron Ardoin, Larry James, Dwight Clarke, Greg Hogue, and Chad Geilen. The family would like to thank all who sent cards, visited, and prayed for Mrs. Dishongh. Special thanks to dear friends, Norma Weatherly, Betty Bowden, and Debbie McLeod. The family will always remember the love and compassion that Lashonda, Jackie, Barbara, and Stella gave to Mrs. Dishongh
