Funeral services for Mr. William H. "Jack" Wooden, 85, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2008 at Green Acres Baptist Church with Revs. Chad Ballard and Todd Wooden officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday, September 28, 2008 at Golden Funeral Home.
Mr. Wooden, a Mason, U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and active member of Green Acres Baptist Church passed away Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Morehouse General Hospital. Mr. Wooden acquired the name "Jack" because of his many talents which included, welder, electrian and air conditioning work. He was employed with International Paper Co., the city of Bastrop and Brown and Root.
Mr. Wooden is survived by his two daughters, Linda Carpenter and husband Larry of Stonewall, LA, Jackie Smith and husband Wayne of Ruston, LA; son, Roger Wooden and wife Gloria of Friendswood, TX; sister, Gertrude DeFee and husband Lavern of Bastrop, LA; ten grandchildren, Kris Carpenter, Kerry Carpenter, Kelly Carpenter, Brannon Wooden, Michelle Edgerly, Amy Salameh, Lindsey Carpenter, Stephanie Smith, Greg Smith, Jennifer Smith; nine great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Frances Winfrey Wooden.
Serving as pallbearers are the deacons of Green Acres Baptist Church.
