Obituary of Willie Ann "Billie" Bray

Proverbs 31:10 & 28 Willie Ann "Billie" Bray, 86, longtime resident of Bastrop, LA and recently of Sterlington, LA, went home to be with her Lord on October 5, 2014. She was the third of five children born to Emery and Azeal Porter in Jones, LA. During her youth, Billie was a talented athlete and played catcher on a State- Championship- winning softball team. She married her husband of 54 years, Kenneth Bray, on January 3, 1944. Billie was a homemaker prior to her career as a sales clerk. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who treasured spending time with her family. In addition to being an excellent cook, Billie also thoroughly enjoyed gospel music and watching the Atlanta Braves on TV. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Billie was a born-again Christian and attended Faith Baptist Church in Bastrop. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters: Nadean Bray and Donna "Tootsie" Griffis, two brothers: David Porter and Harry "Bo" Porter, and son-in-law, Larry Armstrong. She is survived by her daughter Doris Williams and husband DeWayne, of Sterlington, LA, son Kent Bray and wife Karen, of Prairieville, LA, four grandchildren: Douglas Armstrong and wife Lori, of Wickliffe, Ohio; Sharon Crumley and husband Mark, of Sterlington, LA; Kristina Williamson and husband Brad, of Gonzales, LA; Andy Bray and wife Crystal, of Prairieville LA, eight great-grandchildren: Chloe Armstrong, Victoria Crumley, Katherine Crumley, Nicholas Crumley, Cody Williamson, Macy Williamson, Addyson Bray, and Dylan Bray, sister-in-law, Betty Mitchell, and niece, Denise Matheny. Visiting hours will be observed on Wednesday October 8, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home in Bastrop, LA. Services will be conducted by Bro. Johnny Legg on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at Golden Funeral Home, followed by burial at Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Douglas Armstrong, Carl Bourque, Andy Bray, Mark Crumley, Brad Williamson, and Cody Williamson.
