Obituary of Jewel R. Mauser
Please share a memory of Jewel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
While the trumpets played and the angels sang, our precious mother peacefully entered into her new gated and heavenly home. There she came face to face with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Jewel R. Mauser, a longtime resident of Bastrop and Swartz, LA, peacefully passed away on October 9, 2014 at Avalon Place Nursing Facility surrounded by family and friends following a lengthy illness. Mother was welcomed into heaven by many family and friends that went before her. Our dad, Jesse Mauser, who was married to our mother for 57 years at the time of his death. His and her parents, six brothers and sisters all went before mother. She often told us she was ready to "Go see what Daddy was up to".
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Golden Funeral Home Chapel in Bastrop, LA. Visitation will be held from 12 PM until 2 PM Sunday prior to the service. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery in Swartz, LA, under the direction of Golden Funeral Home.
Mother graduated from Lamar County High School in Vernon, AL, in 1942 and from Mississippi State College for Women with an associate business degree in 1944. Soon after her marriage to our dad, she quickly learned his trade as a cabinet maker and earned an outstanding reputation for her woodworking skills. Several of her own items that she designed and made are still in the family. She was an exceptional seamstress, cook, and loved studying the Word. She loved gospel music and has been a member of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church since the early 1950's.
She was the sweetest, most selfless, caring wife, mother, and nanny. She was known even in her nursing home years for her infectious, beautiful smile and contagious personality. She never complained and always had kind words of encouragement to offer. Mother's trademark humor always lightened the atmosphere and by sharing her funny stories she brought smiles to everyone around her.
