Obituary of Bernice Boies Bradshaw Burnham

Funeral services for Bernice Boies Bradshaw Burnham, age 84, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Riverside Baptist Church, Bastrop, with Rev. Scott Petrus officiating. A graveside service will follow at 4:30 p.m. at Springhill Cemetery, Springhill, LA. Visitation will be held Friday from 5-9 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home, Bastrop. Mrs. Burnham passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at Summerlin Lane Nursing Home in Bastrop. She was a resident of Bastrop, formerly of Cullen, LA. She worked in Cullen, LA for 42 years serving as the mayor's secretary and town clerk. She was also a notary public and a bookeeper for several businesses. She has a library museum dedicated in her honor in Cullen, LA. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church in Bastrop, LA and a former member of Calvary Baptist Church in Cullen, LA. She will be remembered as a very loving and dedicated Christian wife, mother, and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edwin Augustus Boies and Gertrude Little Boies; husband and father of her children, Willie Ray Bradshaw; second husband, M.C. "Doc" Burnham; daughter, Donna Bradshaw Nunn; five sisters, Lula, Edna, Mabel, Odell, & Emma; six brothers, Homer, Noble, Eugene, Willie Lee, Maurice, & Naurice; and step-daughter, Rebeka Burnham. She is survived by her daughter, who has been her caretaker for the last nine years, Martha B. Curtis Peevy & husband Mike; son, Robert Daniel Bradshaw; son-in-law, Thomas Nunn; step-son, Charles Burnham; six grandchildren, Susan Alecia Curtis, Robert Todd Curtis, Katrina "Kaci" Lynn Curtis Noble, Robert Edwin Bradshaw, Alan Nunn, Chris Nunn; ten great grandchildren, Matthew Curtis, Joshua Trichel, Tristen Mayo, Nicholas Mayo, Alex Nunn, Ashley Nunn, Austin Nunn, Clayton Nunn, Cassidy Nunn, and Brooke Nunn. Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Boies, Marvin Campbell, David McCormick, John McCormick, Jack Burt, Robert Edwin Bradshaw, Chris Nunn, and Alan Nunn. Honorary pallbearers will be Matt Curtis, Josh Trichel, Chris Ringo, Alex Nunn, Tristen Mayo, and Nick Mayo. Memorial contributions may be made to Riverside Baptist Church.
