Obituary of Jeannette Crocker Odem

Funeral services for Mrs. Jeannette Crocker Odem, age 75, of Bastrop, LA. are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, November 13, 2008 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Dalyn Helbling officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Odem, a retired state employee, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at her residence. Jeannette Odem is survived by her husband of 59 years, Carl Odem; a son, Ralph Odem and wife Adria of Bastrop, LA; a daughter, Carla Churchwell and husband Mark of Little Rock, AR; and four grandchildren, Allen Campo, Christa Campo, Stuart Leslie and Tracey Schleh. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett Crocker, Bert Crocker Williams and step father Curtis Williams. Jeannette and her mother established Crocker Dry Goods Store in Lumberton, MS. She worked in retail stores in Bastrop, 20 years for the Morehouse Parish Health Unit, 3 years for Richland Parish Office of Family Support, then retired in 1993. She was a member of First Church of God in Bastrop. Jeannette had a beautiful loving spirit and was a wonderful wife, mother and friend. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her. The family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers and Agape Hospice for making her last years comfortable. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to your favorite charity or First Church of God in Bastrop in lieu of flowers.
