Mack Edward Swayer, Sr., 88, passed away November 19, 2008 in The Woodlands, TX. He was born December 28, 1919 in Bastrop, LA to Henry B. Sawyer and Edith Brown Sawyer. Mack was a veteran of World War II, serving his country as Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy. He was an active member of Freeway Manor Baptist Church in Houston, TX and First Baptist Church of Bastrop, LA. Mack was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris Rea Sawyer in 2004 and infant daughter, Linda Carol Sawyer. He is survived by his daughter, Judith Sawyer Cook and her husband Lynn of The Woodlands, TX; his son, Mack Edward Sawyer, Jr. of Madrid, Spain; grandchildren, Brian Cook of Huntsville, TX and David Cook of Austin, TX; brothers, Harold Sawyer and wife Betty of Bastrop, LA and Vernon Sawyer and wife Frances also of Bastrop, LA; sister, Aline Robertson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Mack loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 23, 2008 at Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Interment will follow at Hughes Chapel Cemetery.
