Funeral services for Helen Chunn Ruffin, 70, of Bastrop are scheduled for 10 AM Thursday, February 17, 2011 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Francis Smith and Rev. Don Slack officiating. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery.
Ms. Ruffin, a retired employee of Wal-Mart, passed away Sunday February 13 at Cherry Ridge Guest Care. She was a member of Horseshoe Baptist Church where she was the pianist for eleven years. Ms. Ruffin enjoyed mowing, working in her yard and sewing.
She is survived by her friend and companion for the last 15 years, Marion Cook; daughters, Tammy Manly and husband Ron of Bastrop, Lynda Allen and husband Wayne of Fountain Hill, AR, Lisa Barbara and husband Scott of Sterlington; sons, James Ruffin and wife Dana of West Monroe, LA, Chuck Ruffin and wife Jean of Bluffton, SC; step-father, Fred Ford of CA; sisters, Joann Cascarini and husband Don of CA, Fredyne Cox and husband Ken of LA; brother, Ivan Dodd of TX; ten grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
Ms. Ruffin is preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Verna Dew, Mary Frances Ford and Joseph Chunn; son, Curtis "Curt" Ruffin, Jr., and two brothers.
Serving as pallbearers will be; Lynn Winnon, Marshall Stephenson, Mike Silks, Brad Naff, Steve Naff and Jim Cook. Robert Leisure and Tommy Barham will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2011 from 5 PM until 9 PM at Golden Funeral Home.
