Obituary of Hubert "Hook" Uptigrove

Services for Hubert "Hook" Uptigrove, age 80, of Collinston, LA will be held 2 p.m. Monday, September 8, 2008 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Alexander and Pastor R.H. McCuin officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove South Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 5-9 p.m. at Goldens. Mr. Uptigrove was born in Hamburg, AR on July 3. 1928 and passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2008. He was an Army Corporal Veteran of World War II and retired from International Paper Company. He was an avid fox hunter and baseball fan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannine Uptigrove and a son, Jesse Uptigrove. He is survived by two sons, Daniel Uptigrove & wife Jackie of Bastrop, LA, Cecil Uptigrove of Mer Rouge, LA; two daughters, Lucille Hipp & husband Joe of Reklaw, TX, Simone Turner & husband Tony of Monroe, LA; six grandsons, Michael Duncan & wife Melissa of Reklaw, TX, Jesse Duncan & wife Carrie of Reklaw, TX, Chris Uptigrove & wife Shayna of Richmond, TX, Darin Uptigrove of Miami, FL, Colby Uptigrove of Bastrop, LA, David Uptigrove of Ruston, LA; four granddaughters, Jodi Burns & husband Tully of Simpson, LA, Joni Hinton & husband Michael of Bastrop, LA, Jessica Turner of Monroe, LA, Mallory Uptigrove of Sharpsburg, GA; great grandchildren, Austin Burns, Hunter Culbreath, Megan Duncan, Dallas Burns, Tate Duncan, Harli Hinton, Cade Duncan, Melody Duncan, Harrison Hinton, Grayson Uptigrove, and future great grandson, Lukas Turner; two sisters, Colleen Robbins of Hamburg, AR, Barbara Jean Pennington & husband Don of Hamburg, AR. Pallbearers are grandsons, Michael Duncan, Jesse Duncan, Darin Uptigrove, David Uptigrove, Chris Uptigrove, and Colby Uptigrove. Honorary pallbearers are Vernon Cain, Leroy Turner, Sr., Wayne Warner, Ernest Uptigrove, and Claude Mann. The family wishes to acknowledge the kindness of all family and friends.
