Obituary of Lucille Heath Black

Funeral services for Lucille Heath Black, age 94, of Mer Rouge, La. are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2009 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Annie M. Farmer Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Mer Rouge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Friday. Mrs. Black Passed away December 29, 2008 at the Avalon Place in Monroe. She was a member of the Bonne Idee Assembly of God Church. Mrs. Black and her family lived on Whites Ferry Road in West Monroe for many years before moving to Mer Rouge in 1954. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and quilting for as long as her health allowed. She is preceded in death by her husband Troy "Bob" Black; two sons, Gerald and Roger Black; grandson, Troy Carter; granddaughter, Toni Black Smith; daughter-in-law, Erline Woodard Black; parents, Daisy and Ed Heath; four sisters, Sarah H. Thurmond, Josie H. Striplin, Wilma H. Gilmore, Edna H. White; four brothers, Woody E. Heath, Louis Rufus Heath, James Rodney Heath, and L.E. Heath. She is survived by one daughter, Helen Black Carter of Alamogardo, NM; four sons, Bobby G. Black and wife Marilyn, Darryl R. Black and wife Diane, Timothy E. Black and wife Dolly all of Mer Rouge LA, Wayne Black and wife Martha of West Monroe LA, Eighteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Serving as pallbearers are: David Black, Danny Black, Brett Hankins, Denton Clark, Ryan Rawls, and Neal Rawls. The family wishes special thanks to Oak Woods Home for the Elderly of Mer Rouge, Dr. Allen Spires and staff, and the Avalon Place of Monroe.
