Obituary of Ronald Bruce Drummond

Funeral services for Mr. Ronald Bruce Drummond, 75, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Britt Dupree and Rev. Jim Ingram officiating. Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Bastrop, LA. Visitation will be Friday, January 2, 2009 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Mr. Drummond, a loving husband, father and Poppa was born on April 3, 1933 and passed away on December 31, 2008 at his residence, after a lengthy illness. He was a veteran of the Korean war, having served in the Unites States Air Force. He was an active member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He also held Bible studies in several of the area nursing homes. The legacy he left touched many lives and made a difference. He is survived by one daughter, Kelly Drummond Freeland and husband Wayne of Sterlington, LA; three grandchildren, Emily Grace Ford and husband Glenn of West Monroe, LA, Joseph Freeland of Monroe, LA, and Paige Freeland Wilson and husband Bill of Ft. Smith, AR. He is also survived by six great grandchildren; Tyler Ford, Hannah Ford, Hayden Ford, Grant Freeland, Cole Wilson and Jessa Grace Wilson, and granddaughter-in-law, Kelly Jackson Freeland, one sister Linda Causey and husband Phillip of West Monroe, LA, two brothers; Clare Drummond of Indianapolis, IN and James Drummond of Flint, MI, sisters-in-law; Kathryn Lee of West Monroe, LA and Betty Soigner and husband Ray of West Monroe, LA, along with sixteen nieces and nephews. Mr. Drummond is preceded in death by his wife Gracie Pittman Drummond; daughter, Karen Drummond; father, Bruce Drummond; mother, Ruth Drummond; brother-in-law, Clifton Lee, and a nephew, Clifton Lee, Jr. Pallbearers are, Terry Williams, Willis Freeland, Jr, Bill Goodnight, Lee Derrick, David Rader, Jerry Ball, Larry Fryday, and Gene Roberts. Honorary pallbearers are members of First Baptist Church Adult IV Sunday School Class. The Family wishes to express their thanks to the staff and employees of Premier Hospice Care; staff and members of First Baptist Church, and Dr. Robert Lyon.
