Obituary of Eugene C. Gean

Funeral services for Eugene C. "Dirty" Gean, age 78, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday February 15, 2006 at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church near Strong, AR, with Rev. Britt Dupree, Rev. Phillip McCready, and Rev. Harold Diffie officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home in Bastrop. Mr. Gean passed away Sunday February 12, 2006 at Morehouse General Hospital. He was a resident of Bastrop and was retired after 41 years of service as a general mechanic for International Paper Company. He was a member of Central Missionary Baptist Church in Bastrop where he was in the Men's Sunday School Class known as the "Social Security Hounds". He was an U.S. Army veteran and loved gardening, hunting and fishing. Mr. Gean is preceded in death by his parents, 16 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Russell Gean; daughter, Denise Gean Cox and husband Johnnie of Bastrop; son, Rusty Gean and wife Lori of Bastrop; grandchildren, Kristi Cox, Heather Cox, Brandy Gean, Christopher Gean; and great grandchild, Quinton Ashburn. Pallbearers will be Phil Herring, Bob Russell, Danny McGrew, David Gean, Joe Perkins, Leon Henderson. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Men's Sunday School Class. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Missionary Baptist Church or to the Alzheimers Association.
