Obituary of Ada Lucille Cox Riels

Funeral services for Ada Lucille Cox Riels, age 88, of Monroe, LA are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2009 in the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Penuell officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Bastrop. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. Riels passed away January 19, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital in Monroe after a lengthy illness. She was born April 9, 1920 to John K. and Ada E. Cox in Morehouse Parish. Mrs. Riels lived in Bastrop many years before moving to Monroe 20 years ago to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and anyone who knew her loved her loving and sweet spirit. Mrs. Riels enjoyed cooking, sewing, and caring for her home and family until her health would no longer permit it. She loved to read until the end of her life. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Fred Riels and son, William Gary Riels. She is survived by her daughter, Fredine Betz and husband Bob of Monroe, LA; her granddaughter, Toni Patrick Cox of Ruston, LA; her grandson, Tim Patrick and wife Melissa of Somerville, AL; her sisters, Mrs. Ola Mae Hodge of Sterlington, LA, Mrs. Maggie Carter of Bastrop, LA, Mrs. Barbara Cox husband Barney of Gonzales, LA; her brothers, Mr. Herman Cox, Mr. Donald K. Cox and wife Hazel, Mr. Lawrence Cox and wife Sue all of Bastrop, LA; sisters-in-law, Monnie Faye Cox of Bastrop, LA, Doris Riels of West Monroe, LA; three great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Serving as pallbearers are: Tim Patrick, Aaron Cox, Bob Betz, W.T. Riles, Donald K. Cox and Benjie Carter. Serving as honorary pallbearers are her brothers. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Charles Morgan and his staff and especially to Linda Grau, RN on the Cardiac Unit of St. Francis Hospital. Her cheerful spirit, excellent care and extraordinary kindness to our family and our loved one during her illness was exceptional. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the charity of your choice.
