Funeral services for Thomas Earl Lord, Sr., age 81, of Bastrop, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, January 23, 2009 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Marty Black and Bro. Butch Goodman officiating. Interment will follow in Bonita Road Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at Golden Funeral Home.
Mr. Lord passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at Morehouse General Hospital. He retired from International Paper Company in 1984 with 34 years of service. Mr. Lord also served three years in the United States Air Force during WWII attaining the rank of Sergeant.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Lord; son, Thomas E. "Chuck" Lord,Jr. and wife Carol of Bastrop, LA; four grandchildren, Charlie Thomas Lord, Jerri Ann Lord, Jesci Lord, Sara Lord (who is already with the Lord); brother, Jim Merriweather and wife Mary of West Monroe, LA; two sisters, Johnnie Walker of Winnsboro, LA, Susie Junkins and husband Cliff of Delhi, LA; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family, Cindy and Al Long, Kenny and Christie Long, Eric and Valarie Harrall, Mary Lococo, Erin and Catherine Wooten, Ann Chappelle, Buster Guice, Randy Wooten, Cheryl, Allen and Martha Williams, Craig Farno, Carrie, Bill, Hayden, Hayley and Hannah Bennett.
Mr. Lord is preceded in death by his parents, John Austin and Minnie Ida Fuller Lord; two brothers, James Austin Lord and John Doak Lord; six sisters, Zula Smith, Ruby Lord, Eula Nelson, Pauline Yanez, Willean Shaffer and Betty Schoonover.
Serving as pallbearers are: Tommy Rhodes, Jerry Rhodes, Tommy Musgrove, Randy Wooten, Buster Guice and Charlie Lord.
Honorary pallbearers are: Henry Lee Nelson, Buddy Nelson, Bobby Lord, Royce Lord, Wayne Richard and Clemont Brown.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons International.
