Obituary of Bernice Thompson Wilks

Bernice T. Wilks, 88, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, formerly of Bastrop, Louisiana, passed away Friday, January 23, 2009 at Rose Manor Nursing Home in Shawnee. Bernice was born to Charles and Maud Thompson on October 13, 1920 in Eudora, Arkansas. Bernice attended school in Eudora and graduated from business college in Little Rock, Arkansas. She married Milton Wilks April 16, 1939. She was employed as receptionist by the Single Service division of International Paper Company until her retirement. She loved sewing, singing, visiting with family and friends, and she loved her church family. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Bastrop. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Jackie Wilks of Shawnee, OK; grandsons David Wilks of Norman, OK; Bryan Wilks and wife Courtney of Jenks, OK and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Harvest Farms Therapeutic Riding Center, 18 Woodcrest, Shawnee, OK 74804. Visitation will be Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Services will be held Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home..
