Funeral services for Erma Lee Wood Carter, 96, of Bastrop, La. will be Friday, Sept. 3, 2004 at 2PM at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park in Gretna, LA, at 1PM on Saturday Sept.4, 2004.
Mrs. Carter, a member of First United Methodist Church passed away August 28,2004 in Bastrop, Louisiana. A former resident of Algiers, Louisiana, she had moved to Bastrop in recent years to be near family. She was born January 20,1908 to Dr. Edmond Wallace Wood V and Arrie Ann Simms Wood of Marshall, Arkansas.
She was a graduate of Oklahoma State University. After receiving her Masters in education from the University of New Orleans, she taught junior high math and science in the New Orleans area.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Franklin Carter, her daughter, Dr. Camilla Carter Cox, and an infant son, Lawrence.
Mrs. Carter is survived by one son, Kenneth Franklin Carter,Jr. of New Orleans, Louisiana, son-in- law, Dr. Carter Cox of Bastrop, Louisiana, three grandchildren and their spouses, David and Tammie Cox of West Monroe, Louisiana, Martha and Robert Silmon of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Stephen and Susie Cox of Bastrop, Louisiana. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 12 noon to service time Friday at Golden Funeral Home.
