Obituary of Oliver Haynes

Funeral arrangements for Mr. Oliver Haynes, 91, of Bastrop, LA, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday August 31, 2004, at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home, with Rev. Roy Brian Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Christ Church Cemetery. Mr. Haynes died Sunday, August, 29, 2004 at Hickory Manor Nursing Home. Visitation will be Monday from 6 - 7:30 p.m. at Goldens. Mr. Haynes was born on April 9, 1913 in Hamburg, AR. He was a retired employee of IPCO at the Bastrop Mill with over 40 years of service, and a Navy veteran of World War II. Mr Haynes was a member of First United Methodist Church where he was an usher for many years. He is survived by two sisters, Zeonia Wall of Crossett, AR, and Lela Flemming of Warren, AR; brother, R.W. Haynes of Crossett, AR; son-in-law, Max Lucas;two grandchildren, Oliver Keith Lucas of Sumter, S.C., and Cindy Lucas Dement of Monroe; two great grandchildren, Ashley and Ethan Dement; and a very special friend, Verna Spencer. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Norsworthy Haynes; daughter, Dorothy Elaine Haynes Lucas; brothers, Jack, Howard, Harvey and Henderson Haynes. Pallbearers will be Al Torbert, Charlie Bryant, Wayne Goyne, Felix Brown, Gale Garrett, and Billy Norsworthy. Honorary pallbearers will be Juan Jordan and Douglas Bickley. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to Dr. Carter Cox, Hickory Manor Nursing Home, Bastrop Dialysis Center, and the Northeast Louisiana Kidney Specialists. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Bastrop.
