Obituary of Jim Porter

Funeral services for Mr. Jim Porter, 57, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2006 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Marvin Tabora officiating. Interment will follow in Carter Cemetery. Mr. Porter, a retired Deputy with the Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Department, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2006 at his residence. Mr. Porter was a member of the North Bastrop Church of God and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam era. He also served in the National Guard. Mr. Porter is survived by his wife, Barbara Porter; son, Brandon Porter of Bastrop, LA; sister, Jamye Anson of Amboy, IL; two brothers, David Porter of Bastrop, LA, Paul Porter of Arroyo Grande, CA. and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Robe Lee Porter and a sister, Jackie Menza. Serving as pallbearers are: Dale Turman, Ronald Oden, Danny McGrew, Brian Campbell, Buddy Eikert and Mike Stockle. Honorary pallbearers are: Dr. Tahir Quayuum and Dr. Amelia Annow. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2006 at Golden Funeral Home.
