Obituary of Sudie Cumie Harper Harris

Funeral services for Mrs. Sudie Cumie Harper Harris, age 92, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday April 1, 2006 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Annie Mae Farmer officiating. Burial will follow in Hughes Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6-9 p.m. at Goldens. Mrs. Harris, a resident of Bastrop, passed away Wednesday March 29, 2006 at Morehouse General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joe "Buck" Harris for 64 years. She was raised in the White Arkansas area, daughter of the late Norman and Jimmie Harper, with hard work and stories that would hold your attention for hours. She raised four out of six children during the depression and a foster son, J.E. Henderson. She endured the loss of her daughter, Earnestine Stacy; brother, William Elward Harper; and son-in-law, Wilbourne Goodman. She touched the hearts of everyone she met. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Goodman of Bastrop; four sons, Henry Harris of Bastrop, Leonard "Bo" Harris of Bastrop, William Harris of Oak Grove, Jimmy "Pete" Harris of Michigan; sister, Ruby Nell Coburn of Las Vegas, NV; 22 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; and 11 great great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Harris, Wayne Stacy, Wesley Harris, Ronnie Stacy, Vance Goodman, and Kenny Goodman.
