Obituary of Vernon Cain

Funeral services for Mr. Vernon Cain, 90, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Alexander officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the funeral home. Mr. Cain, a retired employee of International Paper Company and U.S. Army Airforce Veteran of WWII, passed away Monday, May 11, 2009 at Lagniappe Health Care Ceneter. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Cain is survived by his brother, Edward L. Cain and wife Irmagene of Sterlington, LA and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lelia Cain; daughter, Ervie Jean Goodnight; granddaughter, Belinda Gaye Goodnight; parents, Claud and Effie Cain; sister, Verdise Briley and brothers, Clayton and Cecil Cain. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Robert E. Lyon for his many years of dedicated care and to the employees of Lagniappe Health Care for their care and support during Mr. Cain's time there.
