Obituary of Margaret Hastings Whittemore

Graveside funeral services for Margaret Hastings Whittemore, age 89, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Woodridge Memorial Cemetery in Lexington, SC. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. Whittemore, a resident of Spencer, LA, passed away Monday, May 25, 2009 at Cherry Ridge Guest Care. She was a homemaker and volunteered as an Auxillary Lady at military hospitals when her husband was serving his enlistment in the U.S. Army. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Y. Whittemore, Jr.; son, Robert Y. Whittemore, III; parents, Will Edgar and Mattie Hanna Hastings; and two brothers, Bernard Edgar Hastings and Will Henry Hastings. She is survived by three grandchildren, Teresa Vann and husband Jackson, Cheryl Mizell and husband Keith; Curtis Whittemore and wife Michelle, all of Oklahoma; five great grandchildren, Zach Vann, Corey Vann, Samantha Mizell, Sabrina Mizell, Madison Whittemore, all of Oklahoma; niece, Diane Gathright and husband Jimmy of Spencer, LA; great nephew, Trey Gathright of Spencer, LA; great niece, Amy Allred and husband John, Sterlington, LA; great great niece, Brittany Allred; and great great nephew, Austin Allred, both of Sterlington, LA.
